About Scott

Scott has served as the Pastor to Students at PCC since 2002. After 28 years of Ministry to students, his passion is still to provide an environment where they can feel apart of something exciting, be introduced to the Love and Grace God in their lives, and have a friend along for the ride as they pursue Christ in their journey.

Integral to Scott’s philosophy of youth ministry is establishing and equipping a team of adults that love Christ and are willing to build meaningful relationships with young people.

Scott and his spouse, Judy, met in Virginia while working with the youth group at their church. They married two years later. After completing Scott’s studies in the Denver area, Judy and Scott followed calls to youth ministry in New Mexico, Virginia, and Colorado. And happily, their family grew.
Keaton, his eldest, lives in Brooklyn, works in the film industry and loves the arts, music, and reading; he graduated from Chapman University in southern California with a degree in Film Studies and English Literature. Brandt is currently serving our country in the U.S. Army with time in the 75th Ranger Regiment and the 82 Airborne. He still picks up his Lacrosse stick for masters level tourneys for fun. Garrett, the youngest, attends the Golf Academy of America in San Diego, is pursuing a career in the Golf industry, and enjoys hanging out with friends as well as anything fun.

Judy holds a successful career in the Design industry and manages “Holland and Sherry”, a high end fabric showroom in San Francisco. Shopping, a good book, fine wine, silence, and her three dogs are also her passions. On his days off, you’ll likely find Scott on the golf course or catching a good movie and thinking of that next great bottle of wine. When together the entire Kail clan participates regularly in “forced family fun” with laughter and healthy competition, whether playing a board game, taking a day trip, sharing a lane at the bowling alley, or eating out.

Scott received his B.A. in Youth Ministry from Colorado Christian University in Lakewood, CO. He also completed two years of undergraduate study at James Madison University in VA and maintains “special student” status towards the M.A. degree at Denver Seminary, Denver, CO.

Scott was ordained in 1989 in the National Association of Evangelical Churches of America. Building on more than 28 years of success in student ministry, Scott became a youth ministry consultant in 2000. His work with other pastors on the methods and programs he has found effective includes onsite evaluation and direction, speaking at retreats and leadership seminars, and a consultant YSconsults (ysconsults.com). Scott continues to consult with other youth ministry leaders and remains an active participant in national conferences that allow him to keep his skills sharp, stay up on new developments and trends, and share expertise from across the country.
