Service is a value for us at Piedmont Community Church

God calls us to reach out beyond our church community as we endeavor to love those in need by serving with mercy, advocating for justice and peace, and partnering with them in humility. The Piedmont Church Mission Board guides our engagement with local and international partners while we follow Jesus in standing up for the downtrodden, feeding the hungry, caring for the poor, and being good stewards of creation.

Service Opportunities

The Mission Board coordinates various service projects monthly — look for notice of events and ways to serve in our weekly newsletter The Messenger. We partner with three local organizations and encourage everyone to find ways to serve regularly. Carefully chosen, all partners are supported financially and through our service.

Children Rising
Through personalized one-on-one reading and math tutoring, plus family support, Children Rising enables children to rise to their God-given potential. Learn more at www.children-rising.org.

Opportunities to Serve

Tutoring Elementary Schoolers in Oakland
We partner with Children Rising to offer volunteer opportunities including tutoring elementary school children in reading and math and and one-time service projects. Whether you are interested in tutoring or volunteering in a different capacity, Children Rising will coach and guide you along the way.

Days of Service
Piedmont Church partners with Project Peace which hosts quarterly Days of Service when hundreds of volunteers from the East Bay participate together on a Saturday morning in a variety of service projects for schools and non-profits that help our communities to flourish.

Alternative Gift Market

Annually during Christmastime, Piedmont Church hosts an Alternative Gift Market (AGM). The Alternative Gift Market gives us the opportunity to care for more than just our family and friends at Christmas by giving them gifts of donations that bring life-giving aid to people who are in need. Over the years, we’ve raised over a million dollars through the AGM.

Medical Benevolence Foundation (Africa and Haiti)
Dedicated to equipping and fortifying the medical ministries of local churches in underserved regions worldwide, MBF works in partnership with its international partners as they take on the responsibility of overseeing mission hospitals, clinics, and nursing schools. Learn more at www.mbf.org.
