SENIOR PASTOR

Steve began serving PCC on January 1, 2021, right in the middle of the pandemic.  He first served as the transitional pastor and then was called by the congregation to be the permanent Senior Pastor in January 2021.  

Steve is a California native and never wants to live anywhere except his home state. He sensed a call to become a pastor after working at camp for a number of summers where he discovered that he loved being involved in the spiritual growth of others. After serving as a youth pastor for a number of years, Steve and his wife Leslie packed up a U-Haul and drove across the country to New Jersey where he attended Princeton Seminary.  

Steve has served a number of churches in California. While not studying for sermons, Steve loves hanging out with Coby, his Golden Retriever, working out, reading, and doing just about anything outdoors. He has been married to his wife Leslie (who is a Vice Dean at the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley) going on 40 years. They have two adult children, Allie who is living the dream and teaching 5th graders in Santa Barbara, and Drew, who is a bass player in a Bay Area band. Steve and Leslie love living in Oakland.

ASSOCIATE PASTOR

Don has been pastoring the congregation of Piedmont Community Church since 2003. While in college he developed a deep interest in Russian history and society, which led him to pursue post-graduate study. He eventually became an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church USA and received his Doctor of MInistry degree from San Francisco Theological Seminary in 2015.. He met his wife Margaret in graduate school, and together they have a son and a daughter.

Always interested in the intersection of faith and culture, Don co-wrote a book on faith and television entitled “Watching What We Watch” which discusses the various aspects of "reading" television, helping us to understand how television creates meanings, and teaches us to assess the truth and value of those meanings. 

At Piedmont Church, Don’s ministry centers on pastoral care, spiritual formation, service, teaching, preaching, and leading worship. In his spare time, Don enjoys long walks, singing, playing guitar, reading, and being with his family.

BUSINESS, FINANCIAL MANAGER

Toni Fischer has been part of the Piedmont Church staff since 1998. Over the years, she has developed extensive experience in financial operations, business management, and human resources, becoming a steady and trusted presence within the organization. Toni works closely with the Finance Committee and values the collaboration and shared commitment to responsible stewardship. 

Toni lives in downtown Concord and enjoys quiet evenings reading and exploring new ideas. She is always open to discovering new interests and possibilities and her favorite activity outside of work is gardening.

PROPERTY MANAGER

Jay joined the staff of Piedmont Community Church in May 2019 and now serves as Property Manager overseeing the entire facility including rentals, maintenance, vendors, facility improvements as well as acting as a contact person for the wider community. 

Having grown up in the church Jay has a fundamental understanding of the ins and outs of church business and operations. He lives on the PCC campus with his dog Winston and has varied interests from reading to golf, fishing, camping, cooking, and being at the beach.

AV MANAGER

Zack is a Bay Area native Audio/Visual professional currently based out of Oakland. They have a BA in Cinema from San Francisco State University and are excited to grow into the next part of their career at Piedmont Community Church as the AV manager. 

Away from the AV booth, Zack can be found performing in various musical projects, experimenting with their home computer server, or watching movies.

HOSPITALITY AND VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

Jennifer spent many years working in Recreation & Parks before moving from Ohio to California to be closer to family. The skills she developed creating welcoming and engaging experiences for people of all ages made Piedmont Community Church a natural fit. As Hospitality and Volunteer Coordinator, she enjoys helping create meaningful opportunities for connection and ensuring that every member, visitor, and guest feels genuinely welcomed.

Jennifer believes everyone deserves to feel seen, valued and safe, and she is grateful to be part of a community that lives out those values with kindness and compassion. Outside of church, she is a lazy gardener, an avid reader of police procedurals and crime novels, and the caretaker of one very grumpy cat.

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, NEXTGEN

Phoebe joined Piedmont Church as the Associate Director of NextGen bringing over a decade of experience in public education alongside "boots on the ground" experience leading her own nonprofit. Driven by a vision for empowering others through the lens of Christ, she dedicated her early career to these ministries before settling down to start and establish her family. Ultimately, her greatest hope in ministry is to help others find and live out their God-given talents.

Phoebe is a wife and mother to three rambunctious boys. Believe it or not, while she remains in the background in her church role, outside of those walls you can find her front and center on stage in local musicals or flying through the air doing aerial acrobatics. Perhaps the church will one day see this as part of a new ministry!

EVENT SALES COORDINATOR

Carol Leslie became the Event Sales Coordinator in 2000. She books weddings, wedding receptions and memorials and she can also coordinate these events for clients.

Carol is married to Robert (Bob) and they both joined Piedmont Church about 1970.  They have actively been a part of the church ever since. They have two grown and married daughters who also live in the Bay Area and 4 grandchildren. Carol graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, majoring in Journalism. Some years after writing copy for The White House she studied and was trained to be an event planner and wedding coordinator.

Carol has planned and chaired many large events for schools,  hospitals, cities, organizations and private clients.

MUSIC MINISTER

Stephen Main was raised in New York City and came to Piedmont Community Church in 1991 while he was a visiting PhD scholar at Stanford. He planned on staying a year, and he’s stayed ever since! He studied at Oberlin College and graduated with degrees in Music and Religious Studies and went on to earn his MA and PhD from the University of Chicago in Theology. 

In addition to his music leadership at Piedmont Church, Steve is an award-winning composer whose work spans sacred classical music, film scoring, and contemporary chamber writing. 

He is active throughout the Bay Area as a conductor, performer, and educator and lives with his husband in San Francisco. He enjoys cooking, weightlifting, and knows every single script of the 1950s “I Love Lucy” show by heart. Literally. You can test him.

OPERATIONS COORDINATOR

As a Bay Area native, Mariana brings a background in technology and art to Piedmont Community Church. She was inspired to join the staff by the genuine spirit of collaboration and teamwork, and she enjoys supporting the church behind the scenes while getting to know the community and the people who make it so special. Outside of work, Mariana enjoys gardening, arts and crafts, caring for pets through dog sitting, tackling DIY projects around the house, and traveling. She has explored more than 30 states and looks forward to discovering many more.

DIRECTOR, NEXTGEN & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Kerry is passionate about helping the next generation come to know Jesus and experience life change through Him.  Before joining the Piedmont Community Church staff, Kerry has served in a wide variety of roles in churches across the U.S. including Willow Creek Community Church, Liquid Church, Menlo Church, and, most recently, at burlpres in Burlingame, where she served as NextGen Lead and Brand Experience Director.  She loves spending time with her three grown children- Courtney, Dominic, and Cassidy.  When she’s not working, you can find her hiking the local trails, walking her pups, reading or traveling.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY DIRECTOR

Leslie is a Bay Area native who grew up in Redwood City. In high school she joined AFS and spent a summer in Turkey. She has a statistics degree from UC Berkeley and worked as an employee benefits consultant prior to working at Piedmont Community Church. She has worked at PCC in Children’s Ministry since 2007, and loves getting to know the children and families who come each week. She and her husband John have two grown daughters, Allison and Melissa. She loves going to Lake Tahoe and Kauai Hawaii.
