Piedmont Community Church has supported programs in Vietnam sponsored and organized through the East Meets West Foundation (EMW) with monies from the Better World Fund. To give the members of our congregation an opportunity to visit Vietnam and to see first hand how the programs are working, we asked East Meets West to help put together a mission trip for us. The trip begins on October 5, 2007 with our flight from San Francisco to Hanoi. During the next 14 days, we will meet with the East Meets West Program director and have hands-on visits to some of their varied programs like Breath of Life (assists infants with respiratory distress), Operation Healthy Heart (provides life-saving heart surgery for children), Village of Hope Children’s Center (serves orphans, at-risk and deaf children), ADAPT (prevents sexual trafficking of young girls and reintegrates them into a healthy society). What an incredible opportunity for us to be able to participate in and observe some of these wonderful programs at work! In addition to the EMW programs, we will visit local attractions like Ho Chi Minh’s tomb, Museum of Ethnology, the Imperial Tombs, a POW organization, local markets, boat trips, etc. An English speaking EMW representative will be our tour guide for the trip to assist us every step of the way.
