Faith Giving at Piedmont Community Church
The Power of Giving: You Make It Happen!

At Piedmont Community Church, we celebrate our Power of Giving. Our faith teaches us that God's grace is behind our every success and that because we are so materially blessed, we have a unique opportunity to use our means to change the world.

God calls us to be more and to do more. This year we celebrate stewardship with the theme, The Power of Giving: You Make It Happen, because each of us can do our part to change our world. As the Reverend Bill reminded us in one of his sermons, we at PCC enjoy the pleasant, opulent environment of being in the "Luxury Box", but where we really belong is with the players on the field, giving back. We who are so blessed have vast ways to express our gratitude.

We use the concept of Faith Giving as the basis for our stewardship efforts that support our annual operating budget. We ask that you prayerfully consider pledging a specific portion of your income for God's work here at Piedmont Community Church, which is, as it has been for 100 years, a Welcoming, Nurturing and Serving church.

Using the biblical concept of tithing, we suggest that you consider donating 10% of your after-tax income to various causes which help to reduce want and misery in our community and in the world. We hope that half of that amount will be pledged to Piedmont Community Church. The annual budget is just over one million dollars, nearly all of which comes from the members of the congregation. We use our budget to allow our community to continue to grow spiritually by extending your and God's reach into the lives of those in the PCC family, in Oakland and the Bay Area and throughout the world.

You are invited to experience the joy of our church's mission by personally making a difference through pledging and Faith Giving. Why? An obvious reason is the depth of the need, which is so great and growing. We respond by extending our caring ministries, supporting our local and global mission activities and securing the ongoing operations of our church. Another reason is that "proportional giving" liberates you by ensuring that a portion of your bounty goes to effective causes that benefit the less fortunate. It also provides some perspective on the materialism of our society and allows us to simplify priorities. With you, we can do so much good by pooling our resources and focusing them on causes of common interest.

We all have the ability to give relative to the gifts we have received. We ask everyone to prayerfully consider giving one dollar per week for every $1000 of annual after-tax income (This is about 5% of income). Every gift is important and welcomed. Some of us have the unique ability to pledge sizable gifts. Members of our Founders Level and Fellowship Level provide annual financial support above $5000 and $3000 respectively. We invite every family, every individual, to consider giving at these levels.

Please make a pledge by contacting Toni Fisher, our church financial manager at 510-547-5700 extension 102 / toni@piedmontchurch.org

Thank you for you support of our church community.
